Global Spectrum Facility Management is bringing the Eastern Conference finalist Philadelphia Flyers to London for their annual preseason game at the John Labatt Centre presented by Scotiabank on Thursday, September 25, when they play their division rivals the New York Islanders.

"The John Labatt Centre truly is our 'Home Away from Home,'" said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "It's a fantastic venue for hockey and our players enjoy coming back to play there. The fan support is tremendous. We can't wait to bring the Flyers back to London again this season and showcase our roster."

The Flyers have played four previous games at the John Labatt Centre, compiling a 2-2 record. The Flyers' roster features London native Jeff Carter, Danny Briere, Mike Richards, Martin Biron, Braydon Coburn and new additions forward Glen Metropolit and defenceman Ossi Vaananen. The Flyers roster could also feature some familiar faces to London Knights fans, including Guelph Storm defenceman Ryan Parent, Windsor Spitfire Steve Downie and recently signed defenceman and former Kitchener Ranger Steve Eminger are also among the players in the Flyers system.

"I love playing at the John Labatt Centre," said Carter. "Obviously it is my home town and I always like going back there.  I think the fans really enjoy seeing the National Hockey League.  For me personally, it is just a lot of fun to go back and play in front of my friends and family. I am definitely looking forward to it again."

The Islanders come into the NHL preseason with high expectations for the 2008-09 season with a roster lead by Mike Comrie, Jon Sim and Captain Bill Guerin.  The Isles, lead by former Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Head Coach Ted Nolan has also begun to bolster their lineup with the recent signings of veteran forward Doug Weight, signed from the Anaheim Ducks and former Habs defenceman Mark Streit.

"It is always an exciting time in London when we welcome the Flyers back to the John Labatt Centre," said Global Spectrum Facility Management's Brian Ohl, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the John Labatt Centre. "We are proud to present the National Hockey League to the fans of London and southwestern Ontario."
